In October 2013, John , George, Mae, Grandpa, Grandmom and I went on a two week trip to North Carolina and West Virginina. We had a blast! Here are some photos from our trip. There is something very inviting when Florida kids see hills! And those are just the photos from North Carolina....others to follow soon.

So sorry I haven't posted in a month, but we have been loving life and enjoying each other so much that I haven't stopped to write what happened. God healed Mae so quickly that she was a testimony to all that she came in contact with at the hospital and she was able to leave in 4 days! That is unheard of and the doctors and nurses were so surprised. Of course we all prayed for God to heal her so it was no surprise to us that he used her to witness to others. So blessed!!!! The first night home, June 2nd, Grandmom's birthday present!!! All smiles even with all the band aids and sore chest. "Cinderella" was dying to get some new shoes and tried on lots at the store. With tiny ankles it is very difficult to buy out peanut shoes. But these were actually too small! Sorry "Drizella and Anastasia" your feet are just too big for the glass (plastic) slippers....LOL!!!!! We were rolling with laughter in Target. George releasing a tiny turtle at Grandpa and Grandmom's house. George as a bug! LOL! The princess at her doctor checkup on Tuesday. Doing great and she got clearance to swim!!! Woohoo! Our summer is back. Have a blessed day!!!!! We sure are. Mae is having a great day on Saturday and the doctors say she will not have to stay the 14 days like they originally thought, but will get to go home sometime next week. Praise God!!!!
We had a representative from the hospital stop by this morning, since he heard all about her being an amazing heart patient and talked to her about being on TV tomorrow for the All Children's Telethon. She, of course, said she was willing to talk to anyone who wanted to come by to talk. LOL! If you asked Mae if today was a good day she would say, "Yes, cuz my George came to me....oh and daddy and John too". Mae has been asking about George since Wednesday night and was thrilled when he arrived to visit today. John and Johnny were interested in checking out all the monitors and they couldn't believe how good she looks. I would like to ask everyone to please extend prayers to the babies and children on the heart floor. Mae is the oldest one here with many newborns. One even had distress this morning and we prayed for him as they were thinking he might need the crash cart. We are blessed to have all of you praying all over the world for our princess that we know God will hear all of you when you say a prayer for these babies too. Have a blessed day and remember to squeeze a child tight today and tell him/her just how much you love them! I know many of you have been wondering how Mae's Friday has been and I'm sorry it has taken me till 4 to update, but we have had a very busy and exciting day!!!! We are busy praising God today since Mae is doing fabulous! Our morning started at 3:30 am with adding back her oxygen tubes, so it has been a long one, but an awesome one! After breakfast, Mae was ready for her third walk. The first one was from the side of the bed to the end of the bed and was very hard, the 2nd one got us right outside our room door, but this morning she pushed her new Rapunzel Build-a-Bear in the doll stroller 2 rooms down the hallway. Woohoo! Great progress. When the doctors and nurses made rounds about 10:30, her regular heart doctor wanted to pull out the oxygen, out her chest tube (that was draining blood from her chest to a box by the bed), pull her off the IV fluids, and encourage her to keep walking. She hasn't looked back since. As soon as the tube was removed from her chest, "chatty Cathy" came to live and the "real" Mae was back. She was able to sit up on her own, talk very well to EVERYONE that came to see her, and eat more food than she had been before. After lunch we had our 4th walk and made a huge loop around the heart ward! Everyone we passed was amazed that she had her Fontan 2 days earlier and was cruising around the hallways. Of course, she was pushing her baby doll stroller AND it had her leappad in the seat, by her bear, and it was playing her princess music. How appropriate! She has a tea party scheduled for this evening so our princess is finally taking a much deserved rest! God is AMAZING!!!! He is showing His amazing healing power through this adorable little girl that I'm proud to call my baby.

PRAISE GOD!!!!!! She is done and did beautifully!!!!!! He was very impressed with this little girl, but then again who doesn't leave Mae's side and not feel God's love. We just finished speaking with Dr Q and we should see her in about an hour or so. Thank God for this adorable little blessing that is still making an impression on others even when she is the one needing the help. Praise God! Wednesday, May 29th @ 5:44 pm Our sweet baby is still asleep. We have been with her for the past 2+ hours. She opened her eyes wide once and asked me to please take all this stuff off of her, but quickly fell back asleep. She will nod when you ask her questions but is doing a good job letting her body rest and heal. She was itching her legs and requested some lotion from mommy which of course I rubbed her all down so now she smells great too. :) All of her levels look great! Everyone is amazed at all this little one has gone through during the past 5 years and we tell them that is all part of God's amazing plan for this little girl. We know she has the power of God inside of her to fight with only half of her heart working for these past 5 years, so we have no doubt that God's strength will continue to help her progress well during her recovery. Thanks to all of you for your prayers, support, encouraging words, and love today and always! It has made a world of difference. Thursday, May 30th @8:30 am
We made it through the first night okay but not a lot of sleep. Mae wanted me close. Grandmom slept about 4 hours, and I slept about 2, but both interrupted due to lots of checkups, beeping monitors, and a baby who was a little sad. Mae is finally allowed a little pineapple. If she keeps that down then she can eat pancakes; I pray she does because she is starving. She sat on the edge of the bed for a couple of minutes which is the first step towards getting up and walking today. She looks nice & pink! We get a smile every once in a while and she is starting to talk a little here and there, but not her normal chatty self yet. Everyone is excited to see how well she is doing for having her Fontan yesterday. Thanks for the prayers and encouraging words, they have been amazing! Thursday, May 30th @ 6:01pm
Mae and I enjoying our cuddle time today. This is the first time I got to hold her so I really enjoyed it.
Mae's first walk. It was VERY HARD and really hurt but we are so proud of all her faith, strength, and determination!
After her walk, she no longer needed the oxygen since she proved to the nurses she is on the mend. As a reward she got to take off her nose tubes. Woohoo!!! Praise God for His healing hand on our sweet baby girl and for all His earth angels that He has here at All Children's.
3rd update....she is still going great and they have about another hour or so of surgery and closure. We should be able to see her in 2-2 1/2 more hours. Praise God!
2nd update from the O.R......they are still working on Mae's bypass and everything looks fabulous. They will call me back in another hour or so. May God continue to do His amazing miracles on His sweet, lovable daughter.
Mae went back with the doctors at 9am to prep for her Fontan surgery. Just got an update from the nurse in the operating room at 10am and she said Mae is already in surgery and went to sleep beautifully. She is doing great! God is so good! Dr. Q told us before he took her back that her surgery should take about 4 hours or so, therefore we just wait and know that Mae is in God's amazing hands! The ultimate healer knows Mae's heart better than anyone... after all, He is the one that created it knowing that we would find each other by our hearts! Blessings!
We are all smiles as Mae waits for heart surgery today. She will go back in about an hour and head to sleepy town. They are thinking she might be done by 2:00 but it will all happen in God's perfect timing. Thank you so much for all of your prayers.
All of you know that Mae is having open heart surgery, but I thought it would be helpful if you knew exactly what parts of Mae's heart God made a little different than ours. First here is an explanation of all of the letters and then there are some pictures for you to see.
Here is a comparison between your heart and Mae's heart. She does the color purple better than anyone I know! Mae already shows more love than any 5 year old I know, but that may be because I am her mom...LOL! I know that she has grabbed the heart of many and lots of people have fallen in love with this little miracle. I thank God for allowing us to be a part of His adorable, lovable, little princess' life!
